MorningWell Audio CD for Morning Sickness Nausea Relief

I just tried the MorningWell audio CD for my morning sickness. Last year I contacted MorningWell because I wanted to offer their product from my site. As I wanted to try it out first, I asked them to send me a sample which they graciously did. However, when I received it I was told to NOT listen to it if I was NOT nauseous. This is because in the process of their trials, people who administered the tests who were not sick, did get sick from listening to it (that’s why it is recommended that you listen to it with headphones on). So, I was a bit disappointed I couldn’t try it out at that time.
BUT, now I am expecting again, and am currently managing my morning sickness.  So, I pulled out the CD and was listening to the audio for about a week. It takes about 40 minutes to listen to the whole audio. MorningWell recommends you stop once you feel better. I listened to it at various times, for varying number of minutes according to how I felt. I am 9 1/2 weeks pregnant and used it when I was 7 weeks. MorningWell mentions that you only need to play it so it is slightly audible. I played it at a level that I could hear conversations going on around me. These are the pros/cons that I found:
PROS- No hypnosis, no drugs, no subliminal messages. Did it work? Sometimes I felt like it did. I did feel like it helped calm my stomach at times. When my sickness got worse, I found that I needed to listen to it more often.  This is the link for the studies which seemed very convincing to try it: http://www.morningwell.co.uk/nhsstudy.htm
CONS: Sometimes I did not feel any different even after listening through the whole soundtrack several times.  After awhile the music annoyed me.  I got restless listening to the same tones & pulses with their overlying melody over and over again. My suggestion to the company would be to create different soundtracks of varying types of music to blend with it. Then the mom could alternate between many different songs.
SUMMARY: I have mixed reviews. I think it is one of those remedies, again, that shows each mom has a different, unique body make-up.  It could work for you, and then it may not.  I always suggest that remedies should be rotated, and morning sick moms should not depend solely on any one remedy to “Cure” their nausea.
Blessings,
Wendy

Morning Sickness at Night

Posted by admin on September 23rd, 2008 and filed under Uncategorized | No Comments »

Getting through the day without throwing up has been a challenge. But night time brings with it even more of a concern. If my stomach is without anything in it for several hours this can cause low blood sugar and increase nausea. But to wake up throughout the night to eat something causes fatigue and this increases nausea. Not to mention I do not feel like chewing anything. So, what to do? Either way I’m doomed. My best bet is to stay up until 11pm and eat big. Then wake up around 5am and eat big. The worst thing that has happened is I am absolutely not hungry before I go to bed, I don’t eat, and then I wake up at 3am and start to throw up until noon. I’m glad there haven’t been too many of those days.
